John Wilson writes, “I have the proud honour of being the Team Manager of The Welsh Association for Vision Impaired Bowlers (WAVIB).

“In recent years I have witnessed the Association and our individual players ascending to a greater competitive level. This dovetails with the Aims and objectives of Sport Wales in ‘creating a nation of Champions’, making Sport available, and inclusive for ALL ages, gender and physical abilities.

“I am committed to ensuring Vision Impaired Bowls is introduced into mainstream clubs, thus becoming the norm. This approach has already achieved successful results in Newport, Cardiff, Swansea & Milford Haven clubs where many of our VI players are integrated into teams alongside sighted bowlers.

“My recent reappointment for the next five years combined with the introduction of our newly formed Elite squad will give me the opportunity to create a sporting pathway for ALL players thus allowing me
to proceed with my project of "Rolling" out VI Bowls to all clubs and communities throughout the whole of Wales.

“I am delighted that throughout my tenure I have enjoyed the much needed and valued support of Disability Sport Wales (DSW) Officers.  Working in partnership with DSW I am certain that together we can achieve our aims.”

I have also had the honour of representing my country at the British Isles Championships on two occasions. As a result I currently hold both the U.K. Titles ( Indoor & Outdoor) for B2 ladies. In addition, I was recently selected to play for my County in the Ladies Sighted Team, a real honour and a significant milestone.
